Our Story

South Side Cycles is a social cycling club based in Cape Town’s Deep South, founded in June 2025 by Natalie Stacey. We bring people together through a shared love of riding, exploring and spending time outside with good company.

What started as a small group of friends on weekend rides has grown into a welcoming community connected by road, gravel and mountain biking. Our weekly club rides are at the heart of it all — a regular opportunity to get on the bike, connect with other local cyclists and enjoy the roads on our doorstep.

For us, being part of a club means more than sharing a route. It means having people to ride with, familiar faces at the start and encouragement when the legs get tired. It’s early-morning catch-ups, coffee-stop conversations and friendships that carry on long after the ride ends.

Our community club rides are designed for experienced cyclists who ride consistently and are comfortable riding in a group. We welcome local and visiting riders, with clear route, distance and pace details to help you find a ride that suits you. The atmosphere is social, even when the riding takes a little effort.

Beyond our weekly rides, we offer premium private cycling experiences, occasional cycling trips and SSC merchandise. These are more ways to explore, share experiences and represent South Side — but our local community remains at the centre of everything we do.

  • Unity & Friendship

A shared love of cycling is the starting point. We make space for new connections and value the people who give South Side its character.

  • Safety & Respect

We ride responsibly, communicate clearly and look out for one another, with respect for everyone sharing the roads and trails.

  • Support & Celebration

We encourage each other through the tough moments and celebrate progress, whether it’s a stronger climb, a longer ride or a personal milestone.

  • Exploration

We’re curious about the places our bikes can take us — from a different route close to home to an adventure further afield.

  • Environmental Respect

We care for the places we ride, leave no litter and respect the landscapes and communities along the way.
